In the book, Harry and his friends went through a lot of strange traps/rooms in the department of mysteries which I found really interesting but the movie cut that out probably to cut cost. I guess my biggest problem with the shows is Dumbledore. That guy can't carry off the character at all! When Dumbledore face-off with Voldemort, he was hardly afraid or attacking. He merely flicked his wand to protect Harry and ward off Voldemort's spells. Voldemort even said "you do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore? Above such brutality, are you?" and Dumbledore just answered, "we both know there are other ways of destroying a man Tom. Merely taking your life would not satisfy me I admit." Like how cool is that? Why can't they project that image in the movie?!


And I find the problem with the past movies is evident in the current one as well. The essence of the story is always at the end when Dumbledore explained things to Harry. This part of the book puts everything into perspective when all the clues they dropped earlier makes sense and fits perfectly into the plot. This part of the story is also where I am moved to tears. Yet, it was hardly tear-inducing in the movie. I agree that Daniel Radcliffe probably acted pretty well compared to his co-stars esp and I shall give him credit for that. But once again Dumbledore did not come through. In the book, when he told Harry why he didn't want to tell Harry about the Prophecy because he does not want to take away Harry's happiness so early and why he did not give prefectorialship to Harry but to Ron also because he figured that Harry had too much responsibility as is already.

I guess I could go on and on and I know that no matter how much I criticise the movies, I will always get excited when the new one comes out again. I also understand the limitations a movie-maker face so I shall keep the rest of my displeasure to myself.

Instead, I shall move on to my Genting/KL trip with the BF. Genting was fun. We went there on coach which was damn shiok coz each person has a laptop size screen to watch movies. I watched The Machinist, The Cave and Fantastic 4 part 1. On the first day the BF and I lost about RM145 in Casino (yep we're unlucky) but it was okay because our breakfast and dinner was all settled by my generous Aunt at nice restaurants so we hardly spent. We watched Transformers there too. Not too bad man, both the show and the cinema. We spent RM34 on Osim iMedic massage chairs. Damn shiok la summore still cheaper than normal seats in Singapore.

Second day, we went to the Theme Park and I forced the BF who had phobia of heights on rides that he would never have taken if not for me hehe. Theme Park was fun because the weather is soooo good so you don't even realise you had gotten a sunburn (which we did).
