HOHOHO!!!
Last thursday, as promised, I went to meet my new orientation group people and they were really friendly. But I don't know why, they seem to be on a different frequency as me. Later on, went to Indochine (Wisma's) and met other groups and made more new friends. There was this guy who really resembled Josh with his smile and attitude (the way he talks etc) and also a little like my class Sam.
As some of you may know, I fell sick on Monday - a mild case of stomach flu, which caused me to puke everything I eat and had diarrhoe 3 times in 2 days (the constant body temperature of 37.8 did not make me any better either) - and missed all of my orientation! I missed the CCA and POW-WOW camp. I also missed the Goldwell party and had my cousin stand in for me. Thanks love!
Oh well, at least I didn't really sit around at home and mope. I went for Social Night on Wednesday and met Andrew's OCS mates. The MC, Matthew, was hilarious. I enjoyed myself for most part, except the part where the guys went off to take pics and the girls were left stoning at the table. But it was overall enjoyable. The food at Conrad was buffet style and it was quite good, given that I couldn't really enjoy it thanks to my near-recovery state.
On Thursday, Dear and I went to esplanade library to chill our time away. The library is really dark, quiet and peaceful at night. Follow up, we head down to Harry's for a couple of drinks with his platoon mates. Sorta a farewell gathering for this president scholar guy. There was a pro guitarist playing there and the music coming from the juke box at other times when the former is not playing, are to my likings. A pity though, as Andrew has put it, the ambience was cruelly destroyed by the guys' loud boorish behaviour lol!
Friday...lets see... ahhh went to pasir ris park to try out Andrew's new digicam. But not before being hounded by this girl, stephanie, to buy a prudential saving plan. After much discussion, for about 1 hour ++++, we were convinced to buy a saving plan each. Can't wait to use the $150 Tangs voucher! -_^ Later on, realising that I haven't got a pair of decent court shoes for convocation, we rushed to TM to hunt for it. But none really caught my eyes. I know beggers can't be choosers but with limited cash to spare, I really don't want to end up with a one-time wear. So in the end, I wore a pair of my mom's hideous shoes. Anyway, we went to BCM that night for dinner and we ordered so much that our mouth was stuffocated with food most of the time.
Convocation was boring, but not as boring as I'd thought it'd be. I met 2 new guys from my group Jerry and Gerald. Gerald was from TPJC too! Haha but he was gone when I went in so.... Anyway most of my group stayed in the east so it's pretty cool. Maybe they grouped us according to where we stayed? The professors were dressed in weird coloured robes (as Valerie had warned) and they look really funny! They look like characters from Harry Potter with our President (or rather ex-president) Ron Paul Frank, looking very much like Dumbledore. The SMU dancers were really good. I was really impressed. But that did not make me change my mind about joining. That only makes me think I'm not good enough.
Tomorrow is the start of school for me officially. Actually lessons started going on today already but I personally do not have lesson on Monday so that's alright for me. I'm feeling really nervous about meeting new people and whether I can be the good student I resolved to be. I read the webbie and they said that class participation will be taken into account when grading us. Class participation includes involvement in discussion and showing interest by means of doing all the work and bringing all the notes and calculator etc when needed. Knowing me, you guys know how born non-chalant I can be. I'm not sure if I can get the straight As result in order to earn me the direct Honours. So scary!
Hopefully, the Professors will be kind enough to guide us for the first few weeks until we get the hang of the new style of teaching. I think they should. Okay, that's about all. See ya peeps!
