I just made a few wonderful discoveries over the weekends:

- my OG friends are really a nice lot.
- many SMU students are still unhelpful and irresponsible.
- sometimes your new friends are more reliable than even your closest friends.
- you will die horribly if you don't check your SMU email account daily.

Not realising the last above-mentioned point, I didn't know about VERTS, SMU's 2nd hand books exchange service, until Mingyan told me about them on Wednesday. Since then, I've been checking in on them twice a day for good bargains but luck was obviously not on my side. I met friends who managed to get really good conditioned books for a really low price but I couldn't even get a decent book. I met 2 seniors who promised to sell me their books but waited until the last day to tell me they do not actually have the books that they'd offered to sell. One of them actually got me into deep shit. Friday, realising that I won't be able to get my FA book from VERTS, I went to Booklink to make my purchase. To my horror, the book was out in Booklink too. I searched many bookshops on Saturday but couldn't find the FA book of the correct edition. I was real panicky because I have an assignment due Wednesday and I'll only be going school on Tuesday. What if Booklink is still out of stock on Tuesday and I can't do my homework? Hence, I started asking people I know to lend me their FA books. Even though I offered to go to their doorstep to borrow, photocopy, and return them almost immediately, many came up with really lame excuses. I was almost shitting my pants already.

I SMSed Jason from my OG for Gerald's number (whom also was from my OG) because I recall Gerald taking business and was from TPJC so he probably stayed in the east area. Jason immediately sent me the biz card and I called Gerald as quickly. He, like Jason, doesn't take FA but he was really sympathetic and offered to help me asked around. I thought he was just paying lip-service. But shortly, he SMSed me and told me Siling, who was also from my OG, has the book. Siling meanwhile agreed to lend me to photocopy the book and was even agreeable to meet at a place convenient for both of us. I couldn't thank these people enough.

So here is my heartfelt thanks to my OG, and a few others who offered to lend me but just couldn't do it because of different schedules. I finally understood the meaning of doing something for someone which may mean nothing to you, but it actually helps that someone tremendously. Been there, done that, and fortunately I've been on the receiving end.

Now it's time for me to fill you in on my first week of school.

COMM lesson on Tuesday was alright. My prof, Tom Estad was friendly and nice, typical angmoh I should say. We were assigned into groups for a project on Raising funds for Hope's Children Home in Nepal. We are supposed to come up with a proposal and promotional campaigns and brochures for both potential corporate and individual donors. My group was so different in timetable the only time we could meet up was Wednesday evening in school. Even so, one of the member couldn't make it. I think we're gonna have a tough time meeting up in the future with more project and CCA commitments.

Had ACCT and STAT class on Wednesday, both of which I had Eliz for company. My acct prof is a korean and he seemed strict, but nice. He started off the lesson by showing us pictures of his newly born twin girls. (A forewarning to us girls to keep away from him?) Haha.. Anyway had 4hours of break before stats so I joined Mingyan and her OG friends for lunch. They seemed more of the cool and happening types as compared to my OG. One of the girl, whom I thought was quite pretty, happens to be Sheryl's enemy from their sec sch. Small world huh? My stats prof is a woman, who looks nice and approachable and I would say it the most "stress-less" class I've had so far.

Thursday I had economics in the morning. Sheryl was in my class. Nothing much about the class except since it was short (my prof ended it 1.5hours early) and not much lesson was actually taught. But I can sense my prof giving really interesting classes to come. Anyway, in the afternoon I had LTB. LTB was my fave class so far. We started off the lesson with a little game. And the people in the class seems more friendly than the others I had. I was assigned in a group I like, where the people are "nice and amicable" (quote Vivien). We had a proj meeting on Friday morning before stats class and it seems like they know what they are doing, unlike my comm group, and I have faith we will be able to get good grades for our proj.

That somehow sums up my first week of school. I'm still feeling quite lonely though because I haven't met anyone that I can really click and hang out with. I guess that will take time so I'm not gonna get myself down coz of that. That's about all peeps. Probably update again next Monday haha.. Take care!
