I'm so bored I started surfing blogs of strangers. And I came across several Harry Potter fans and their thoughts on GoF and it turns out I wasn't the only one who felt teary during the scene when Cedric died. The difference though is that I felt sadder for Harry than for Cedric.

How can anyone's life be so tragic?

Your fate is sealed at the age of one, together with the death of your parents. You grow up with your aunt and uncle, who made you sleep in the tiny cupboard under the stairs, wear your cousin's old clothes and underfed you.

Then, you go to a magic school and thought your life can get better. But instead you found out that your parents' good friend betrayed them, resulting in their deaths, and your godfather was framed for the betrayal. For several minutes, you thought you could leave you aunt and uncle forever and live with your godfather once his name is cleared. But all is lost when the traitor escapes.

And then, you witness the return of the most evil wizard who murdered your parents. And he's out to kill you. He already killed your friend in the process of getting to you. What's worse, when you try to explain to the world that Voldemort (the evil wizard) is back, they call you deranged and attention-seeking.

Shortly after, you witness the death of your godfather because of a silly mistake on your part. And you found out that there's a prophecy that says only one of you and Voldemort will survive. The weight of saving the world falls on your shoulder at the tender age of sixteen.

And a year later, you witness yet another death - the death of your mentor. That's when you realise, you can't rely on anyone anymore. You must stop believing that the presence of a parent figure can protect you indefinitely. They all died protecting you and it is time you brave your dangers on your own.

That is perhaps why I like him so much. A friend found it highly amusing that I can feel so much towards a fictional character. Yeah, bit odd. But think, if such a boy really exist, wouldn't you want to care for him, protect him too?

Okay, I also don't know why I'm telling you'all this. Like I said, I'm bored. But on the other hand, Andrew is coming back this morning! As a matter of fact, he's probably boarding the plane as I type. Can't wait!
