Today is a productive day because I made 1 dress and 1 skirt in less than 5 hours, all from leftover material.

I think I like making my own design so much better than having customers making me sew a specific design. First of all, I find that sewing a customer's design restricts me from making mistakes. Most of the time, when I sew on my own, I tend to sway from the initial idea because it's much easier or looks nicer sewing a different style. But with a customer restriction, I find that I tend to spend longer time trying to get it exactly what she wants and the end result might not be as good.

And then I recall the last episode on Project Runway where the designers were supposed to sew a wedding dress where their models were their clients. And I think it was one of the judges who made this good point. "You shouldn't compromise your style totally by trying to please your client. You're a designer, not a dress-maker." or something along that line.

Yes, I want to be a designer. I am a designer, not a dress-maker. So I've decided, I'm not going to take in "tailor" orders. I'm going to make what I like and sell them to my admirers. It's gonna be "Take it or leave it".
