Do you know...

Legend has it that the words testify, testimony and testicles are all derived from the same Greek root testi, which means witness. It is said that the men's balls were held in such sacred regard that when a witness has to give a testimony, he will have to cover his genitals with his hand while making his oath.
Can you imagine if that is true? I mean COME ON! How can we trust the honesty of testicles? When men talk with their testicles, they are usually lying. Or maybe they were actually swearing upon their testicles, sort of like if you lie, your balls will drop off. Hmmm... maybe that is an explanation for Hitler's predicament. I kinda like the idea of the latter. I think I shall make my husband do that the next time I smell an affair hehehe.

On another note, I was reading Geline's blog when she made an entry about people cheating on their partners. And it got me thinking a bit. I've always believe I won't be one to cheat on my significant other because I feel that people who do that are just plain stupid and selfish. But on second thought, who am I to judge them? How would I know about what really caused them to cheat? Yes, there are those who just cheat for the sake of cheating. But I would like to think that the majority who went off track actually went through a deep emotional struggle. We are only human. Sometimes, the relationship they are in might be having some problems, sometimes someone else more suited for them might come along, albeit later, or sometimes a combination of all sorts of factors. And the act of cheating might just be the after-effect of confusion and perhaps a lack of judgement. But shouldn't everyone be allowed some slack for making mistakes? Are we right to condemn them when we ourselves aren't that perfect? That said, I would like to clarify that I've never cheated on someone else before.
Anyway, this topic also triggered some thoughts quite different from the above. I was just thinking how more often than not, people who cheat actually falls under the gender male. I've heard guys who gave lame excuses like "because guys are born to be polygamous!" Are they really? I actually have a different theory for that. I think this has got to link back to ancient time when women have lower social status. When men cheat, it's not so bad. When women cheat, they are executed or punished. I heard on the radio not so long ago that there was actually a form of punishment for women who cheat: their pubic hair are plucked off and something (bittergourd?) was shoved up their you-know-what. Kinda sick if you ask me. But whatever, the point is, women's "polygamous" nature have actually been suppressed throughout the centuries and I think that is why men in today's time still feel more justified to cheat than their lady friends. It is NOT because men are biologically more inclined to cheat. It is because men has always been the stronger sex and they were more successful to fight for taking more wives than one.
What do you think?
